Zell am See-Kaprun was our starting point on this Austrian adventure. The scenery from our bikes included the cascading waterfalls of Krimmler, the City of Three Rivers. We visited Eisriesenwelt, the largest ice cave in the world, as well as the roaring gorge of Leichtenstein. Further north our path traveled through quiet meadows, the gothic town of Braunau, the 1000-year-old town of Obernberg, the Augustinian convent of Reichersberg, a baroque town of Scharding, and the Wernstein Castle.
Our water sports activities included canoeing on the nearby lake and an action-packed half-day rafting trip on the Salzach and Saalach rivers. We also spent two days discovering Vienna, touring the Schonbrunn Castle (home to the Habsburg Dynasty), and the Medieval Gothic Stephansdom built in 1147.
Austria is one of the best countries for cycling, it offers some of the most spectacular views along beautiful bike trails and stunning lakes nestled into the Austrian Alps offer breathtaking scenery. We’re looking forward to returning to this magical place, and we hope you’ll join us.
Happy travels,
Diana
